Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite leaked

Last year, Qualcomm officially announced the custom Oryon core, harnessing the technology acquired from Nuvia, bearing great expectations to rival Apple’s proprietary M-series chips. However, the first devices incorporating this novel core aren’t slated for launch until 2024.

According to Windows Report, information has been received regarding Qualcomm’s imminent release of the Snapdragon X Elite, tailored for laptops. This state-of-the-art SoC is fabricated using Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) 4nm process technology. The CPU segment features 12 custom Oryon cores, with an all-core turbo frequency of 3.8 GHz and a boost frequency of up to 4.3 GHz for one to two cores. Notably, sources indicate that this SoC adopts an all-high-performance core configuration, eschewing the previously speculated big.LITTLE architecture.

The GPU aspect of the Snapdragon X Elite is still grounded in Qualcomm’s Adreno IP, albeit with a significant uptick in performance metrics. Its FP32 single-precision floating-point prowess achieves an impressive 4.6 TeraFLOPS. Beyond the CPU and GPU, the chipset also integrates specialized accelerators for artificial intelligence and image processing, including a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with a computational might of 45 Teraflops. In the realm of photography, the integrated Image Signal Processor (ISP) can support video captures up to 4K HDR on a dual 36MP or a singular 64MP camera setup.

Further details reveal that the Snapdragon X Elite is compatible with LPDDR5X memory clocking at 8533 MT/s, boasting a maximum capacity of 64GB, corresponding to a peak bandwidth of 136 GB/s. In addition to supporting PCIe 4.0, the Snapdragon X Elite also embraces UFS 4.0 storage, coupled with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 capabilities. Qualcomm asserts that, besides showcasing stellar performance when juxtaposed with x86 solutions, the Snapdragon X Elite also excels in energy efficiency, consuming a mere third of the power at similar peak performances compared to x86 products.
