Qualcomm launched a new RFFE module
Qualcomm announced the launch of a new RF Front-End (RFFE) module, an expanded product portfolio designed for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 6E, and the next-generation standard Wi-Fi 7. In addition to being suitable for smartphones, it can also be used in end products such as automobiles, extended reality (XR), PCs, wearable devices, mobile broadband, and the Internet of Things.
The new RF front-end module supports the coexistence of Wi-Fi and 5G, and cooperates with Qualcomm ultraBAW filter to support 5G/Wi-Fi concurrent, enhancing wireless connectivity for endpoints using cellular networks allows manufacturers to use the module to develop Wi-Fi client devices quickly and cost-effectively. In addition to Qualcomm’s own FastConnect 7800 Wi-Fi 7/Bluetooth wireless connectivity system and Snapdragon 5G modem and RF system, manufacturers can also choose to use third-party Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chipsets with Qualcomm’s new RFFE modules.
In fiscal 2021, Qualcomm ranked first in the field of smartphone RFFE revenue. “With Qualcomm Technologies’ new products, we are extending our RFFE leadership into automotive and IoT, helping OEMs address their massive industry-specific challenges like development cost and scalability,” said Christian Block, senior vice president and general manager, RFFE, QUALCOMM Germany RFFE GmbH. “OEMs using our solutions can design products with higher performance, longer battery life and reduced commercialization time, ultimately accelerating the pace of innovation and delivering improved experiences to consumers.”
Qualcomm said that the new RFFE module is sampling to customers, and the same terminal is expected to be available in the second half of 2022.
