MSI launched two MAG X570S series motherboards

At the beginning of June this year, MSI showed off its new X570S series motherboards at its online product launch. In 2019, AMD released the X570 chip composition as the first chipset that supports the PCIe Gen4 standard, and MSI has launched a number of motherboard products based on this chipset. The suffix “S” of X570S represents the meaning of silence, which means that after optimization, the heat generation is reduced, and there is no need to configure a cooling fan.

MSI launched two X570S series motherboards this time, namely MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI and MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX, which have basically the same appearance, but with different colors. The main color of the former is gray and black, while the latter is sea blue. At the same time, the former also comes standard with Wi-Fi 6 wireless network card, and the second M.2 slot also has a heat sink. The most attractive part of the new motherboard is of course the modification to a fanless cooling design. After removing the cooling fan of the chipset, dust and noise can be reduced.

Both X570S series motherboards use a 12-phase power supply with a digital PWM IC chip design solution, upgraded to Audio Boost 5 audio solution, onboard 2.5 GbE Ethernet card, and configured with two PCIe Gen4 x16 slots.
According to previous news, MSI is preparing to launch eight motherboards based on the X570S chipset, covering the mainstream to high-end markets, including:
  • MEG X570S ACE MAX
  • MEG X570S UNIFY-X MAX
  • MPG X570S GAMING CARBON MAX WIFI
  • MPG X570S GAMING EDGE MAX WIFI
  • MAG X570S TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI
  • MAG X570S TORPEDO MAX
  • X570S PRO-MAX WIFI
  • X570S-A PRO MAX
MSI has not yet announced the price of these two motherboards and the specific time to market. I believe that MSI will launch MPG and MEG series motherboards based on the X570S chipset in the future, and there should be corresponding upgrades. X570S is likely to be the last chipset for the AM4 platform, and next will be the motherboard of the next generation AM5 platform.
