MSI Admits to RTX 4070 Ti SUPER BIOS Flaws, Issues Apology and Fix
At this year’s CES 2024, Nvidia unveiled the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series graphics cards based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, introducing three new models: the RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, and RTX 4070 SUPER.
Like many other brands, MSI provided the media with the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics card for testing, with the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G VENTUS 3X being the most widely distributed model. However, during testing, it was discovered that this model underperformed, falling below expectations. Nvidia confirmed that the product had issues, performing about 5% lower than anticipated. Subsequently, MSI undertook revision work, issuing two new BIOS updates to the media. Unfortunately, the first BIOS update still had issues, with performance about 3% lower than expected. The second update arrived too late, only two hours before the media embargo lifted, leaving no time to update the test data.
MSI officially acknowledged the BIOS performance issues in its RTX 4070 Ti SUPER graphics cards and sincerely apologized for the inconvenience caused. The team provided a newly adjusted BIOS (95.03.45.40.F0) for several RTX 4070 Ti SUPER models. MSI stated that this update would enhance the card’s performance, aiming to meet and exceed the expected benchmark performance.
The following models received the BIOS update:
- GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G VENTUS 3X – [BIOS Update]
- GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G VENTUS 3X OC – [BIOS Update]
- GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM – [BIOS Update]
- GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G GAMING X SLIM WHITE – [BIOS Update]
- GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G VENTUS 2X OC – [BIOS Update]
- GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G VENTUS 2X WHITE OC – [BIOS Update]
MSI’s actions suggest that the issue extends beyond just the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G VENTUS 3X model, affecting multiple products.
