Mozilla released Firefox Monitor privacy data disclosure notification service
Mozilla announced the release of a data breach notification system to Firefox users in a few years ago. Now that the testing process is almost over, Mozilla has officially launched a separate privacy data disclosure notification service called Firefox Monitor. To use it, just navigate to Firefox Monitor and provide your email address. It then automatically compares your browsing data with Have I Been Pwned’s huge database of more than 3.1 billion confirmed network addresses with security issues.
If a match is found, the service will alert you to the details. If you are lucky enough, you have time to change your login information before actually causing any damage.
Firefox Monitor also allows users to alert in advance by adding security details to the database. Mozilla said the email address that submitted the data will be protected.
In the current version, Firefox Monitor is not directly integrated into Mozilla’s browser but is a separate website, which means anyone can use it. It is essentially a customized version of the Firefox brand of the existing database.
Mozilla has a large user base, and this exposure will increase the awareness of the Have I Been Pwned database exponentially. It also laid the foundation for true Firefox integration, which Mozilla promised a year ago.
