Microsoft confirms that the Office 2021 version will be released later this year

Microsoft Office 2021 Preview was released. Originally we were skeptical about this name because according to the release rhythm of the previous new version, the preview version should be launched this spring but Microsoft had not to this.

We think the final version name should be Microsoft Office 2022, but now Microsoft has confirmed that the new version is Office 2021.

Microsoft said the new version will be released for Windows and macOS later this year when users can purchase the one-time purchase model.

What’s interesting is that the Microsoft productivity team also announced a new version of the office software suite this time. The new version is the Office LTSC version to provide long-term support.

The reason for the launch of this version is that there are still companies that are not ready to go to the cloud, that is, temporarily unable to migrate to Microsoft 365, so the offline version is still needed.

The new long-term service version is an offline version and provides long-term support, allowing these companies to continue for a long time and get security updates without frequent upgrades.

The long-term service version of the operating system provides a longer support period, but Office LTSC is a compromise version and its support period is five years instead of seven or ten years.

It is worth noting that considering the stable use of some products and industrial enterprises, Microsoft may also launch a new permanent version for these enterprises to continue to use.

However, Microsoft has not yet released more introductions on this new version. Interested companies can pay attention to Microsoft’s subsequent product updates.Learn more about Office 365 Cloud Migration and SharePoint Online Tenant to Tenant Migration.
