Microsoft 365 services no longer support IE 11
According to the timetable previously released by Microsoft, from now on, Microsoft’s own Microsoft 365 full range of services will no longer support the IE 11 browser.
Of course, IE11 cannot be used for a long time, so Microsoft 365 no longer supports IE browser, and users must change to a modern browser to access it.
Although it has been said that it is no longer supported, in fact, each service development team has its own timetable, which is to reserve a transition period for users to switch to new browsers.
The subsequent use of these services on the IE browser may deteriorate until they are completely unavailable. Of course, all new features will not be provided to IE users by Microsoft.
From August 17, 2021, logging in to Outlook with an AAD domain account can still get a full experience, but the new features developed later will no longer be supported.
Logging in to Outlook with a Microsoft personal account will be forcibly redirected to the simple version of Outlook Web App, and can only use the most basic sending and receiving functions.
Applications such as Microsoft SharePoint are executed according to the plans of their respective teams. Some users can continue to use them but can only use maintenance mode.
The so-called maintenance mode is to only guarantee the use of basic functions without modern experience and no new functions. These services will stop supporting old browsers in the future.
It is worth noting that only the Microsoft 365 series of services are not supported. For the IE11 browser itself, Microsoft will continue to support it until June 15, 2022.
For users who still use Microsoft 365 online services, Microsoft recommends that users migrate to modern browsers such as Microsoft Edge for a complete experience.
If the enterprise cannot migrate the browser, then you can also choose to use the desktop client, such as the desktop version of Outlook, of course, this may require additional payment to purchase.
Of course, there may be various reasons for companies to still use old browsers, but for any reason, they need to migrate the browser as soon as possible to ensure subsequent use.
After all, after Microsoft completely stops supporting IE next year, even if there are vulnerabilities, Microsoft will not fix it. At that time, enterprises may continue to use IE and there may be potential security risks.
