MediaTek will announce the enhanced Dimensity 9200+ processor on May 10
After MediaTek held its Q1 2023 earnings conference in Taiwan, it quickly announced through Weibo in China that it will unveil the enhanced Dimensity 9200+ processor on May 10, and also chose to launch it first in the Chinese market.
If there is no accident, the enhanced Dimensity 9200+ processor should be based on the Dimensity 9200 launched at the end of last year and overclocked during operation to improve the overall computing performance.
The specific details of the enhanced MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor are not yet confirmed. It may use the same “1+3+4” architecture as the Dimensity 9200, which consists of 1 Cortex-X3 CPU, 3 Cortex-A715 CPUs, and 4 Cortex-A510 CPUs, and is equipped with the Arm Mali Immortalis-G715 GPU. It also adds 5G networking capabilities including sub-6GHz and millimeter wave bands, and will also support Wi-Fi 7 connection specifications.
And if there is no accident, Asus may use this processor product if it continues to launch the follow-up models of the ROG Phone 6D series, and MediaTek will not rule out cooperating with more brand mobile phone manufacturers.
MediaTek’s consolidated financial report for Q1 of fiscal year 2023 announced earlier, showed that the consolidated revenue for the previous quarter was NT$95.652 billion, a decrease of 33% compared to the same period last year and a decrease of 11.6% compared to the previous quarter. However, MediaTek emphasized that the gross profit margin remained stable in the market competition in the first half of the year, and at the same time emphasized that it currently focuses on achieving a balance between market share, revenue, and actual profit in market competition, rather than winning on price alone.
At the same time, compared with the current mobile phone market sales performance lower than expected, it believes that entry-level models still have more aggressive price competition, but also emphasizes that pursuing low-price competition strategies is not effective, and it is also difficult to change the existing market share performance. Therefore, the next direction of business development will reflect customers’ cautious outlook on market demand and expects revenue to have a chance to improve in the second half of the year.
Although mobile phone products did not drive revenue well, MediaTek emphasized that TV, broadband products, and 5G tablet devices still drove revenue growth. Next, it plans to expand its automotive market development by using the Dimensity Auto platform.
