M1 MacBook does not support ultrawide external monitors

The M1 MacBook has already had a lot of reviews. Of course, for most users, the device performs well in terms of performance, so the overall evaluation is not bad.

It’s just that there are some problems that Apple may not have noticed. For example, some users recently discovered that if the M1 MacBook device is connected to an ultra-wide display, the resolution will be abnormal. The main reason is that the device cannot normally recognize the ultra-wide display.

This resolution recognition problem is not a malfunction but Apple has not considered this situation at all, so the M1 MacBook does not support this type of ultra-wide screen.

According to an extremely brief support document.

If the supported resolution isn’t available on an ultrawide or super-ultrawide external display connected to your Mac with Apple M1 chip

If you connect an ultrawide or super-ultrawide monitor to your Mac with Apple M1 chip, some resolutions supported by your display may not be available.

Apple is aware of this issue and resolution is planned for a future macOS update.

To see the additional resolutions for your external display, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, click Displays, then press and hold the Option key while you click Scaled.

After receiving feedback from users, Apple has released a support document. In the document, Apple stated that it does not recognize the highest resolution supported by the monitor in some cases.

The company promised to resolve this issue through macOS software updates in the future, but Apple has not disclosed approximately when it will completely resolve the issue.

This also reminds us that the M1 processor is still a new product, so there may be some trouble waiting for follow-up discovery and resolution in terms of some software and hardware compatibility.
