Intel: products based on 10nm process have begun mass production, 7nm, and 5nm process development progress is good
Intel, a company listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange, recently announced its latest earnings report. The financial report shows that Intel collected $19.2 billion in the third quarter of 2019. Overall, Intel’s earnings report was in line with analysts’ expectations, so Intel’s share price rose more than 7% to $55.95 per share after the market opened. After the earnings announcement, Intel CEO Bob Swan also announced some information. For example, products based on the 10-nanometer process have begun mass production.
In the earnings conference call, Bob Swan said that Intel’s fabs have started mass production based on 10-nanometer process products. Intel is very pleased with the mass production of the process technology. In the meeting, Bob Swan said that Intel has officially opened the 10-nanometer technology era.
In addition to the product information, Bob Swan also revealed the current research and development information of Intel’s process technology. For example, in 2021, Intel will launch a 7-nanometer process-based product. This type of process is also Intel’s first application of extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV), based on this process will be applied to the graphics card products in the data center.
“We’re ramping a multitude of products. We have increased confidence in 5-nanometer. And as we mentioned for 7 and 5 getting back to a two-and-a-half, two year cadence is what we’re focused on and we’re confident in the future,” Swan said. As for more specific information on the 7nm and 5nm processes, Intel did not disclose it. If the 5mm nanometer is not postponed according to the strategy, it will be launched in 2023.
