Intel may release XeSS on May 22, Dolmen game will support it
When Intel released the Alchemist (DG2) discrete graphics card of the Intel Arc brand with the Xe-HPG architecture, it confirmed that many games will support XeSS. However, this important feature is not available for the time being, and it was previously reported that it will not be available until sometime in early summer, which is similar to the official launch of AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0.
Recently, Kiev Martins, producer of Massive Work Studio, accepted an interview with Wccftech and said that the action role-playing game Dolmen, which will be released on May 20, will receive a patch including support for Intel XeSS when it is launched. This means that Intel may choose to release the long-awaited XeSS on the same day. Since Dolmen itself already supports NVIDIA’s DLSS and AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution, it becomes the first game to support all three supersampling technologies at the same time.
Kiev Martins also stated that Dolmen currently supports FidelityFX Super Resolution 1.0, but plans to join FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0. AMD officially released FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 on May 12. Deathloop is the first game to support this technology, and also supports NVIDIA DLSS.
Intel’s XeSS is an AI-driven super-sampling technology, accelerated by XMX AI in the Xe-HPG architecture Xe Core, using ML to reconstruct low-resolution frames into high-resolution frames, increasing the number of running frames. XeSS is fully DirectX 12 compatible and, thanks to DP4a instructions, provides AI-based supersampling on a variety of hardware including integrated graphics. The implementation method of XeSS is similar to that of NVIDIA DLSS.
In addition to being available for PC (Steam), Dolmen will also be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X. In addition to supersampling technology, ray tracing technology will also be supported on PC and next-generation consoles.
