Global cumulative sales of “Street Fighter VI” have now broken through two million units

The latest installment in CAPCOM’s “Street Fighter” series, “Street Fighter VI”, has been launched on June 2nd after a seven-year hiatus, gracing the platforms of PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Within a few days post-launch, the cumulative global sales of “Street Fighter VI” exceeded one million units.

CAPCOM announced that the global cumulative sales of “Street Fighter VI” have now broken through two million units, only taking just over a month, and the cumulative sales of the “Street Fighter” series have surpassed fifty million units. To commemorate the achievement of “Street Fighter VI”, the official will once again present celebratory gifts to the game players.

In previous media interviews, CAPCOM executives expressed high expectations for “Street Fighter VI”, hoping to sell more than ten million units throughout its life cycle. This senior figure also acknowledged that to meet the demands of gamers and keep pace with the times, CAPCOM’s future games, including the next generation of the “Monster Hunter” series, will support cross-platform online play.

The “Street Fighter” series debuted its first installment in 1987, more than 35 years ago, and has since been adored by players, accumulating a multitude of loyal fans over the years. “Street Fighter VI”, representing the new generation of fighting games, attracted much attention before its release due to numerous improvements. CAPCOM also carried out extensive promotional activities for the new work, especially in the esports sector. It is reported that this year’s Capcom Professional Tour (CPT) will have a prize pool of two million dollars for “Street Fighter VI”, of which the champion will receive one million dollars, the highest competition prize in CAPCOM’s history.
