Gigabyte’s Intel 600/700 series motherboards support 24/48GB DDR5 memory
MSI announced a few days ago that its Intel 600/700 series motherboards already support 24GB and 48GB DDR5 memory, including MEG, MPG, MAG, and PRO series products. This means that the maximum memory capacity of the motherboard with 4 DIMMs will increase from 128GB to 192GB, while the maximum memory capacity of the motherboard with 2 DIMMs will increase from 64GB to 96GB.
For users who need a large memory capacity, the upper limit of the system’s memory capacity has been increased, and optional memory capacity options have been added, allowing users to have more choices and better balance costs and their own needs. Gigabyte, another major motherboard manufacturer, also announced today that its Intel 600/700 series motherboards already support 24GB and 48GB DDR5 memory, and users do not need to update the BIOS to support new memory modules.
TechPowerup said that Gigabyte’s Intel 600/700 series motherboards can support up to 7000MHz for 24GB and 48GB DDR5 memory after XMP is turned on. Increasing the memory capacity can help improve the overall performance of the system, and can improve productivity for users who need large-capacity memory application scenarios. Although GIGABYTE said that it is not necessary to update the BIOS to support the new memory modules, it is still recommended that users update to the latest version of the BIOS after getting the motherboard.
It has been reported before that Micron will launch a new generation of DDR5 memory modules optimized for Intel’s 13th generation Core and AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors, and support XMP 3.0 and EXPO technology, can automatically load the best configuration file, strike a balance between cost and performance. These memories comply with DDR5-5200 and DDR-5600 standards, the operating voltage is 1.1V, and the delay is CL46. Among them, the single capacity of DDR5-5200 is 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB, and the single capacity of DDR-5600 is not only the traditional 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB, but also 24GB and 48GB are available for users to choose.
In addition to Micron, SK Hynix exhibited 48GB and 96GB DDR5 memory samples at the Intel “Intel Innovation” summit last year, with frequencies of 5600MHz and 6400MHz. In addition, it is rumored that another memory maker, Samsung, has a similar plan.
