GIGABYTE is preparing a variety of Intel Z790 “X” motherboards for Raptor Lake Refresh
Previously, it was reported that Intel’s next-generation Core desktop processors (Raptor Lake Refresh) would continue to adopt the LGA 1700 interface, maintaining compatibility with the 700-series motherboards. Despite Intel’s new generation of Core processors not being officially released, numerous manufacturers have updated the BIOS for their 700-series motherboards in anticipation of supporting the forthcoming Core processors. Of course, this is only part of the preparation for the new Core processors; to enhance support for the new processors, manufacturers will also release a new generation of 700-series motherboards.
During this year’s Taipei International Computer Show, Gigabyte showcased their new Z790 motherboards AORUS Master X and AORUS Xtreme X with an “X” suffix, serving as updated versions of Intel’s 700-series motherboards. However, according to Videocardz, Gigabyte has submitted documents to the EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission) revealing that at least seven Intel 700-series “X” motherboards are in the pipeline, including:
- Z790 AORUS XTREME X
- Z790 AORUS MASTER X
- Z790 AORUS TACHYON X
- Z790 AORUS ELITE X WIFI7
- Z790 AORUS ELITE X AX
- Z790 AORUS PRO X
- B760M AORUS ELITE X AX
- B760M YT PIONEER WIFI
From the list, Gigabyte’s new 700-series “X” motherboards encompass Z790 and B760 from the AORUS Elite / Pro series. Additionally, the list references a new motherboard named “YT Pioneer”, a product name previously unused by Gigabyte. The specific positioning of this motherboard is currently unknown; it could potentially be a model designed explicitly for content creators, or simply a special edition for a specific market.
Beyond supporting the next-generation Intel 14th-generation Core processors, the new 700-series motherboards will seemingly also encompass some new features, such as default support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5GbE network connections.
