German bicycle supplier Canyon Bicycles attacked by ransomware
Recently, the famous German bicycle manufacturer, Canyon said that its IT infrastructure has been attacked by ransomware, and the attackers encrypted access to all files in the company.
The company was founded in 2002 and is headquartered in Koblenz, Germany. It mainly produces mid- to high-end sports bicycles and is one of the best-selling bicycle brands in the world. In 2015, Canyon began expanding its production facilities by developing an IT infrastructure.
It is understood that in this attack, the company’s IT department managed to control the incident and prevent the spread of malware. However, with the exception of its website in the United States, all other company portals, including the Koblenz website in Germany, were affected. People familiar with the matter revealed that the company’s order delivery and delivery in the next few days may experience delays.
Canyon CEO Roman Arnold said the incident was purposeful and aimed at obtaining ransom by controlling access to sensitive data, and said that some sites placed on other servers were not affected.
At present, Canyon has reported the attack to relevant investigative agencies, and the Koblenz Criminal Investigation Department and the German National Criminal Investigation Department have started investigations to identify the culprit for the spread of malware.
