Canalys: Smartphone shipments in 2021 are expected to grow by 12% to 1.4 billion units
According to Canalys’ latest forecast data, the global smartphone market will grow by 12% in 2021, and shipments will reach 1.4 billion units. Last year, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, global smartphone shipments dropped by 7% compared to 2019.
Canalys research manager Ben Stanton also said that with the advent of the 5G era, 5G mobile phones have strong momentum, and price competition between manufacturers will become so fierce that many manufacturers sacrifice other hardware functions, such as power chargers, in order to lower the price of 5G mobile phones to the level of general mass consumption. By the end of this year, 32% of all 5G phones shipped will cost less than $300
Canalys predicts that the shipment of smartphones in the Asia-Pacific region will be 381 million units in June this year, an increase of 8% year-on-year; smartphone shipments in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa were 355 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13%; smartphone shipments in Greater China were 394 million units, a year-on-year increase of 16%; smartphone shipments in Latin America were 126 million units, a year-on-year increase of 18%; smartphone shipments in North America were 159 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6%.
