Apple may announce new “RealityOS” operating system at WWDC 2022

As Apple is about to hold this year’s WWDC 2022 developer conference, related news once again alleged that Apple is about to announce a new version of the operating system called “realityOS”, which may correspond to the upcoming virtual visual headset. In addition, Bloomberg News reporter Mark Gurman once again revealed that Apple will add many more useful updates to iOS 16, iPadOS 16, watchOS 9, macOS 13, and tvOS 16.

In fact, there has been news earlier that Apple will use “realityOS” as the operating system for the upcoming virtual vision headset, which may also be based on iOS and optimized for virtual vision devices.

The approval documents published earlier in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office showed that two applications were filed on December 8, 2021. Although it is not directly marked as Apple’s application, the registered address from the applicant company Realityo Systems LLC is the same as Apple’s previous application for the patent use of the macOS California operating system name. It shows that Apple obtained the patent for the name of the operating system through an external company before transferring the patent to Apple’s property.

As for “realityOS”, it didn’t appear this year. It was reported earlier that this operating system used “Oak” as the product code inside Apple.
