Apple confirms to open Siri to third-party applications

Apple Siri is used by many users, but Siri can only send a message or make a call that will lead the digital assistant to automatically use Apple’s Messages or Phone apps because Apple restricts users to use Siri. For example, when using voice commands to control Siri to send information to a specific user, the result of the restriction is that Siri will only transmit the content through Apple’s Messages or Phone apps. There have been rumors that Apple will lift such default application restrictions, and it will be more convenient for users to customize the configuration and then operate by voice.

Apple is now often questioned by the media and developers. These questions are mainly focused on restricting third-party developers from submitting similar applications. The same is true for smart digital assistants. People can use Siri to send messages but only iMessage.

However, Apple also issued a statement against the rumor that “An upcoming iOS software update will change that behavior, letting Siri steer requests to third-party apps — starting with messaging and later expanding to phone apps — based on past user interactions with contacts. After the update, Siri will automatically use WhatsApp to respond to a contact who uses WhatsApp for communications.” For example, when you frequently use voice commands to send messages, you can change the application that sends the default message to WhatsApp. Of course, other communication software will also support it.

But Apple did not specifically disclose when the new policy will come, Apple said it will release this new feature later through iOS updates.
