AMD releases Adrenalin Edition preview driver: Supports AFMF, only available on RX 7000 series
AMD has unveiled the preview version of the AMD Software Adrenalin Edition driver, introducing support for the AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) feature. This is akin to AMD’s “frame generation” technology, bearing resemblance to DLSS 3. This innovation is integrated as part of the FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.0 (FSR3), with support for FSR3 set to be launched tomorrow. The inaugural games to benefit from this are “Forspoken” and “Immortals of Aveum.”
AMD now employs AFMF distinctly in a broader range of games, activating the frame generation feature at the driver level as the “Fluid Motion Frame” option to further amplify performance. This feature can be facilitated through HYPR-X or by using pre-configured game profiles in individual game graphic settings. Being provided in a preview version indicates it’s not the finalized rendition, suggesting potential enhancements in the future.
AMD has enumerated games compatible with AFMF. Even though these games don’t integrate FSR3, when players utilize Radeon graphics cards, they can leverage this technology. The list comprises up to 20 titles including:
A Plague Tale – Requiem | Borderlands 3 | Control | Dead Space |
Deep Rock Galactic | Dying Light 2 | Far Cry® 6 | Ghostwire: Tokyo |
Hitman 3 | Hogwarts Legacy | Horizon Zero Dawn™ | Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition |
Red Dead Redemption 2 | Resident Evil 3 | Resident Evil 4 | Shadow Of The Tomb Raider |
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor™ | Starfield | The Last of Us™ Part 1 | The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt |
As an integral component of the Radeon graphics card drivers, AFMF will not accommodate third-party hardware and, for the current phase, is exclusively applicable to the Radeon RX 7000 series GPUs.
