WireGuard has been used by many large companies and has been integrated into tools, distributions, mobile phones, and data centers. It has also entered the Linux 5.6 kernel mainline. Entering OpenBSD this time and winning another camp also means that OpenBSD will be able to natively support WireGuard VPN in the future.
WireGuard merged into OpenBSD
The mailing list shows that WireGuard has been merged into the OpenBSD source tree. WireGuard is a VPN core implementation with few lines of code, giving priority to performance and simple configuration, trying to provide high performance while achieving simple configuration. WireGuard is based on UDP. The data packet is encrypted at one end and then encapsulated in a UDP packet to be sent to a remote endpoint and then decrypted. And it supports a wider range of encryption algorithms and protocols.
