Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18267 Release: Enhanced Mode for Search Indexer

Today Microsoft pushed Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18267 to Fast Channel users. As usual, there are not many new features, mainly focusing on bug fixes and background performance optimization. Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 18267 is the latest preview of the upcoming Windows 10 19H1, and we still haven’t seen the return of the Sets feature. So far, Microsoft has not announced the new features of 19H1. The Windows 10 Build 18267 full update log is as follows:

Input Improvements

Vietnamese Telex and Number key-based keyboards are now available on your PC.

More symbols are now available on the touch keyboard: Now you can easily access more symbols and special characters directly from touch keyboard. After changing to the number & symbols view (&123) on the touch keyboard, just tap the new ‘Ω ‘ key and you’ll now see a number of tabs with lists of symbols.

Accessibility Improvements

  • Narrator works better with Chrome now! Using up and down arrows in scan mode, navigating with tab key, continuous reading commands, and navigating by headings and links have initial support for Chrome, with more functionality coming in future flights.
  • Narrator Braille: BRLTTY version 5.6 is now provided which adds USB support for Inceptor and Orbit 20 displays. In addition, the BrailleNote Touch is recognized when using USB. Baum displays can now use B9 and B10 interchangeably. Liblouis binaries and tables have been updated to version 3.7.0.
  • UI Automation framework IAccessible2 Support: The UI Automation framework now supports translating IAccessible2 information from Chrome, which supports IAccessible2 rather than UI Automation. This enables UI Automation clients to receive the IAccessible2 information through the UI Automation client interfaces.

To improve the usefulness of the taskbar search box, Microsoft has now begun to focus on improving the search box, which is no longer limited to indexing user folders.

Since this release, the system will create all files and hard disk partitions by default, which means that users will provide more accurate suggestions when searching.

However, at least the current search enhancement mode is not enabled by default. Interested users can select the enhanced method for indexing in the set search settings.

The initial indexing process takes about fifteen minutes or more, and the indexing process consumes a lot of system hardware resources, so please operate it when you are idle.
