Wi-Fi Alliance launches Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) certification program today

The Wi-Fi Alliance, a non-profit industry organization, today announced the launch of the Wi-Fi 6 certification program, which aims to certificate devices using next-generation 802.11ax Wi-Fi in a set of established standards. Participating manufacturers can add a Wi-Fi 6 certification to their packaging.

This certification is important because it lets you know that the device supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), and its launch also gives manufacturers a green light for launching the new products which support Wi-Fi6. At present, Samsung Galaxy and another flagship smartphone also support Wi-Fi 6, such as the Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and the iPhone 11.

The Wi-Fi 6 certification program will verify that the device supports all technology upgrades that make Wi-Fi 6 40% faster than Wi-Fi 5, including features such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), allowing Wi-Fi 6 routers to Serve multiple clients simultaneously in a single channel.

Together with OFDMA, Wi-Fi 6 certified devices are proven to support the latest generation of WPA3 Wi-Fi security, multi-user multiple input multiple outputs (MU-MIMO), allowing your router to simultaneously send and receive multiple signals, 160MHz channel Increase router bandwidth, 1024 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (1024 QAM), let your router send more data at a time, send beamforming, get better Wi-Fi performance in a certain range, and target wake-up time (TWT), etc.
