The cumulative update KB4515384 for Windows 10 May 2019 (Version 1903) was released on September 10 this year, focusing on the problem of excessive CPU usage in the Cortana process and the introduction of other regular fixes. At the beginning of the cumulative update release, Microsoft stated that there were no known issues. But then Microsoft admitted that the update would cause bugs related to the Start menu and Windows Desktop Search, as well as audio issues.

In addition to the above issues, there are other problems with the KB4515384 cumulative update, including incompatibility issues with some devices with Intel Centrino 6205/6235 and Broadcom 802.11ac Wi-Fi cards. Some users in the Microsoft community, Reddit, and Feedback Hub complained that the network adapter stopped working after installing the cumulative update.

Another user posted a message on the Feedback Hub:
“KB4515384 breaks ethernet and wifi adapters on my PC. Appears to create new devices as they’re labelled ‘#2’ and when exposing hidden devices in Device Manager the previously named devices appear. Uninstalling these / new or old drivers do not fix the issues (i.e. “ethernet unplugged” which it is clearly not). Only option was to uninstall this update.”
If you are affected by a network adapter corruption, you can disable and re-enable the adapter in Device Manager and use the adapter again after the system reboots. If there is no effect, you should consider uninstalling the cumulative update until Microsoft confirms the error and provides a workaround.
