Uber announces membership in the Linux Foundation as a Gold member

At the 2018 Uber Open Summit, Uber announced that it has joined the Linux Foundation as a Gold Member and continues to contribute to the open source community.

Uber Chief Technology Officer Thuan Pham said the Linux Foundation is a place to nurture and develop open source projects that not only provide homes for many important open source projects but also create an excellent open environment for companies like Uber. Open source technology is the backbone of many of Uber’s core services, and as Uber grows, these open source solutions will become increasingly important.

Jim Zemlin, Executive Director of the Linux Foundation, said, “Uber has been influential in the open source community for years, and we’re very excited to welcome them as a Gold member at the Linux Foundation. Uber truly understands the power of open source and community collaboration, and I am honored to witness that first hand as a part of Uber Open Summit 2018.”
