The release time of Raptor Lake-S is at the end of the third quarter of this year
At the 2022 investor conference, Intel showed off the Raptor Lake processors to be released in the second half of this year. It will be equipped with 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores, up to 24 cores and 32 threads, and it is also confirmed that the Raptor Lake processors will be compatible with the existing Alder Lake LGA1700 motherboards.
However, Intel didn’t mention much about the performance, Intel only mentioned that there will be up to double-digit performance improvement, which usually means that the increase may range from 1% to 10%. According to information released in the latest video of Moore’s Law Is Dead, the single-threaded performance of Raptor Lake is improved by about 8~15%, while the multi-threaded performance will be about 30~40%, but the range Moore’s Law Is Dead gives is too broad and may not be of a reference value.
As for the release time, Moore’s Law Is Dead said that the desktop version of Raptor Lake-S will be launched by the end of the third quarter of 2022, the notebook version of the Raptor Lake-H/HX/U series is planned to be launched in the fourth quarter. In terms of time, it will directly compete with AMD’s Zen 4 architecture Ryzen 7000 series. In fact, one of the advantages of Raptor Lake for Zen 4 is that it also supports DDR4 memory. At present, various news points out that Zen 4 only supports DDR5. However, the price of DDR5 memory will not drop too low this year, and the status of DDR4 is still very important.
