The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority lifts the TikTok ban
Earlier, the National Telecommunications Administration of Pakistan announced the ban on TikTok. After the ban, the Pakistani people will no longer be able to download and use the application.
The reason for the ban is that TikTok has some “immoral” and “indecent” videos. The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority stated that the company does not cooperate with regulatory agencies.
Some accounts that repeatedly disseminated illegal content were not processed. In the end, the regulatory agency temporarily blocked TikTok to exert pressure.
After being blocked, TikTok stated that it would strictly follow the requirements of the regulatory authorities to delete the illegal content. The management of the company stated that it is important to comply with the requirements of the regulatory authorities.
At the same time, its management also implicitly stated that if the Pakistani regulator can lift the ban, the company will allocate more resources to the Pakistan market.
The so-called resources here should refer to personnel investment, because TikTok relies on a large number of employees to review the content posted by users and deal with disputed content, etc.
TikTok said that it is currently spending a lot of time addressing the concerns of regulators and that accounts that repeatedly participate in the spread of obscene and illegal content will be blocked.
Pakistan has now unblocked the application. The total number of TikTok installations in Pakistan is about 43 million, and this year alone has reached 14.7 million.
