Sony PlayStation VR2 release date and pricing revealed: Available February 2023, $549.99
At GDC 2022 earlier this year, Sony showed off its upcoming PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) headset to game developers. After many game developers experienced the device, they were full of praise for the PlayStation VR2, and the feedback was quite positive, but Sony did not provide a specific release time or price at the time.
Sony has just announced that the PlayStation VR2 will be available for pre-order on November 15th, with an official launch on February 22nd, 2023, with a suggested retail price of $549.99. It includes a PlayStation VR2 headset, a PlayStation VR2 Sense controller, and an as-yet-undisclosed stereo headset. Sony also offers a charging unit for the controller as an option for $49.99. The PlayStation VR2 isn’t cheap, even more, expensive than the PlayStation 5 console itself.
The PlayStation VR2 connects to the PlayStation 5 via USB-C and uses a single-eye 2000×2040 resolution OLED screen with a 90/120Hz refresh rate, providing 4K HDR and a 110-degree field of view for a high-quality visual experience. PlayStation VR2 Sense technology combines eye tracking, headset feedback, 3D audio, and the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller to create a deep sense of immersion. Tempest 3D AudioTech with PlayStation 5 can also make the sound around the player more realistic, bringing a unique gaming experience. The eye-tracking hardware is made by Sweden’s Tobii, a company specializing in eye-tracking solutions.
Sony also announced 11 new PlayStation VR2 games.
