Sony is working on new wireless earbuds/headset for the PlayStation 5
PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2) will officially launch on February 22, 2023, and Sony seems to be busy with other PlayStation 5 peripheral projects as well. According to a report from Insider Gaming, Sony is developing new wireless earbuds and a wireless headset for PlayStation 5, which may be released by the end of the fiscal year 2023.
It is understood that the project code name of the new wireless earbuds is “Project Nomad”, and the battery life is 5 hours, but it is equipped with a charging box. You can add extra battery life, connect to and charge the PlayStation 5 through the USB-C cable, and you can also use the USB-C cable to upgrade the firmware of the earbuds.
Another wireless headset is called “Voyager”, which is likely to be a flagship model, and it is expected to be released around the same time as “Project Nomad”, or even released at the same time. It is rumored that “Voyager” is similar in function to the INZONE H7 headset under Sony’s gaming equipment brand. It can support 360 game space sound effects, output the sound as a virtual 7.1 channel, has a battery life of 30 hours, and will also add active noise reduction and other functions, such as a microphone with a mute function.
It is not surprising that Sony is making efforts on peripherals. With the release of the game equipment brand INZONE for PC players last year, Sony has invested more and more in peripherals, and like its first-party games, it will cover PlayStation and PC platforms. Last year, a Sony executive said the goal was to become the Nike of gaming gear.
