Sony Interactive Entertainment to launch PlayStation 6 sometime after 2026

In 2020, Sony Interactive Entertainment launched PlayStation 5. The current point in time is still a growth period for PS5, because the next-generation PlayStation will not be launched until sometime after 2026, and it may be around 2027.

While resisting Microsoft’s takeover of Blizzard, Sony Interactive Entertainment submitted a document to the UK’s antitrust regulator, which has now been made public.

In the document, Sony Interactive Entertainment stated that Microsoft only proposed to keep Blizzard games on the PlayStation platform until 2027. In a separate statement, Sony said Microsoft said Call of Duty would only remain on the PlayStation platform if it made sense.

Sony said that according to Microsoft’s current thinking when Sony Interactive Entertainment launches the next-generation PlayStation, it may not be able to get support for Call of Duty.

Judging from these instructions submitted by Sony in the document, Sony Interactive Entertainment will most likely launch PlayStation 6 around 2027. The PS6 will be announced in advance in 2026, but the actual launch will not be until around 2027.
