SiFive Unveils Fastest RISC-V Board: HiFive Premiere P550
Citing a report from Liliputing, SiFive has announced an upcoming RISC-V development board, designated as the HiFive Premiere P550, which the company claims will deliver unparalleled performance in comparison to similar market offerings.
At the heart of the HiFive Premiere P550 is the Eswin EIC7700 SoC, crafted using a 12nm process technology. It is equipped with four SiFive P550 CPU cores, boasting 256KB of L2 and 4MB of L3 cache, in addition to a GPU, NPU, and support for PCIe 3.0 x4.
Similar to other development boards we’ve reported on, the HiFive Premiere P550 consists of a SoM (System on Module) core board and a carrier board. The SoM core board encompasses the SoC, LPDDR5 memory, and eMMC, while the carrier board houses various I/O interfaces and slots, such as a PCIe x16 slot, an M.2 E-Key slot for WiFi/Bluetooth, and SATA interfaces, conforming to the miniDTX standard.
The base version of the HiFive Premiere P550 comes with 16GB of LPDDR5 memory and 128GB of eMMC storage, starting at $650. Customers can opt for a version with 32GB of memory for $800. Both versions are sold with the core and carrier boards as a single package.
SiFive touts the HiFive Premiere P550 as ideally suited for RISC-V software development, machine vision, intelligent video analytics, AI computing, servers, and more. As for its market launch, SiFive anticipates global sales through Arrow Electronics starting in July 2024.
It’s worth mentioning that last year, SiFive released the HiFive Pro P550 development board, also known as the “Horse Creek” board, which utilized four high-performance SiFive P550 64-bit CPU cores. SiFive asserts that the new HiFive Premiere P550 will offer greater configurational flexibility and wider application potential.
