Sapphire RX 7900 XTX frequency overclocking up to 3.5GHz

AMD released the Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT graphics cards based on the new generation RDNA 3 architecture GPU on November 3. At present, benchmark results show that the non-public version of the RX 7900 XTX has a maximum frequency of 3.5GHz.

According to ComputerBase, RDNA 3 and Ada Lovelace graphics cards were tested in Blender’s 3D rendering benchmark. According to the test results, the frequency of the RDNA 3 architecture Sapphire RX 7900 XTX is significantly higher, with an average of 3455 MHz, and the graphics card frequency once reached 3548 MHz. However, this frequency can only be maintained for a while, and the power consumption of the graphics card has reached about 400W. Compared with the public version, the frequency of this test is 13% higher, and the power consumption is also 21% higher. Compared with the previous generation RX 6900 XT, the frequency is 24% higher.

But when it comes to game testing, the frequency is not so high. First, the average frequency of the public version of the RX 7900 XTX is 2554 MHz, and the average frequency of the overclocked version of the Sapphire RX 7900 XTX graphics card is 2832 MHz. According to ComputerBase, in some well-optimized game tests, the frequency of the Sapphire RX 7900 XTX graphics card has reached 3155 MHz, which is the highest frequency currently measured in game tests.

When promoting the RDNA3 architecture, AMD said that this is the first architecture to exceed 3.0GHz, Videocardz said that AMD is indeed right now. From the software test, it has indeed reached above 3.0GHz, but the performance in the game is still a little bit worse. However, Navi 31 is only one of the three GPUs of the RDNA3 architecture. In the future, there will be Navi 33/32. The frequency of the graphics card based on Navi 33/32 may reach an average frequency of 3.0GHz in the game.
