Samsung’s new Exynos SoC may not be exclusive to Galaxy phones
According to previous news, Samsung will release Exynos SoC with integrated RDNA 2 architecture GPU next month and will use this chip in the next new Galaxy S series flagship phones. Many users hope that Samsung’s Exynos chip can bring a new atmosphere to the mobile platform. The support for ray tracing and variable rate coloring has raised expectations.
According to Wccftech reports, this Exynos SoC with integrated RDNA 2 architecture GPU may be named Exynos 2200. At the same time, it is not only interested in ordinary users, but also mobile phone manufacturers. According to people familiar with the matter, Vivo may use Samsung Exynos 2200 to build a high-end smartphone or even the first product. This also reflects that Samsung is open to this chip, not limited to its own products.
Samsung Exynos 2100 is already close to Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in performance. Its biggest weakness is the GPU. If Exynos 2200 can turn its disadvantages into advantages, more mobile phone manufacturers may cooperate with Samsung. After all, at this stage, the mobile phone manufacturers can choose to use a single platform.
It is rumored that both Samsung Exynos 2200 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 895 will be manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process, so production capacity should be guaranteed. Even if the sales of Samsung’s next Galaxy S series flagship phones are not as expected, it can also profit by selling Exynos 2200 chips to offset the loss of mobile phone sales and create a new source of income.
It is still unclear what kind of performance Exynos 2200 will have, and there are rumors that the performance is relatively strong. Compared to performance, power consumption and heat generation should be more concerned.
