Samsung shows off the Odyssey OLED G8 gaming monitor
At IFA 2022 in Berlin, Germany, Samsung showcased the new Odyssey OLED G8 (model G85SB), its first OLED gaming monitor, and another high-end addition to the Odyssey lineup, to further cement its industry-leading position.
The Odyssey OLED G8 features an ultra-thin form factor, measuring just 3.9mm at its thinnest part, and features a sleek metal frame. It is equipped with a 34-inch OLED panel, combined with quantum dot technology, with a curvature of 1800R, a display ratio of 21:9, and a resolution of 3440 x 1440. The refresh rate is 175Hz, the color depth is 10bit, it provides a peak brightness of 1000 nits and a response time (GtG) of 0.1ms.
Odyssey OLED G8 is equipped with HDMI 2.1 port, Mini DP 1.4 port, and USB-C port, and is equipped with 5W stereo speakers. Additionally, the Odyssey OLED G8 is VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black and AMD FreeSync Premium certified for a better gaming experience.
Samsung hopes that users will not only use the Odyssey OLED G8 as a gaming monitor but also play a role in entertainment and life, running as an entertainment center. The Odyssey OLED G8 can use the Samsung Smart Hub to use the web search function, install and use various applications, OTT services (streaming media services), and other functions. Thanks to Samsung TV Plus, users can enjoy free live content without downloading or registering. In addition, the integrated IoT hub allows users to check all IoT devices wirelessly connected to the display, and through SmartThings can monitor and configure IoT devices throughout the house.
Samsung said that the Odyssey OLED G8 will be available in the fourth quarter of this year, but has not disclosed the price yet.
