Samsung confirms that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be available in four colors

In anticipation of the imminent unveiling of the new screen-flexible smartphone, Samsung has disclosed that the phone, once folded, will no longer exhibit an apparent gap. It further divulged that the Galaxy Z Flip 5, one of the vertically folding models, will offer four color variants including lavender, emerald, obsidian, and alabaster.

In contrast to the flexible screen phones created by Chinese brands such as Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Vivo, which all underscore the absence of a gap post-folding and even assert the lack of visible creases when the screen is unfolded, Samsung’s upcoming foldable model will evidently subscribe to the same design principle. This approach aims to ameliorate some of the persistent criticisms of earlier foldable devices.

Prior to this, Samsung hinted that the new foldable phone will embody a ‘human-centric’, ‘intuitive’, and ‘slim’ design ethos, involving a slimmer body and a more durable hinge mechanism.

However, Samsung’s foldable phones have consistently grappled with concerns over screen durability. While Samsung offers complimentary screen protector replacements twice within the first year of purchase, along with warranty-covered repair services, there’s the ongoing debate over whether the folding damage is due to natural wear and tear or user-inflicted damage. Perhaps the new phone design will offer some resolution to this issue.

The upcoming Unpacked event, slated for July 26, will for the first time be held in Seoul, South Korea. Anticipated new product announcements include the new foldable phones Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, the Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9 Plus, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra tablet devices, as well as the Galaxy Watch 6 smartwatch.

Whether the Galaxy S23 FE will also be revealed concurrently remains uncertain at present.
