Qualcomm unveils the second-generation Snapdragon 7+ mobile platform, featuring a 50% increase in CPU performance
Qualcomm announces the launch of its new, second-generation Snapdragon 7+ mobile platform, described as the “most powerful Snapdragon 7-series – ever,” bringing a comprehensive, exceptional experience to the Snapdragon 7 series.
Utilizing TSMC’s 4nm manufacturing process, the second-generation Snapdragon 7+ mobile platform features a tri-cluster 1+3+4 CPU architecture, reportedly including a 2.91 GHz super core, three performance cores, and four efficiency cores, delivering an overall performance increase of 50% compared to its predecessor. The integrated Adreno GPU boasts double the performance while achieving a 13% overall system energy efficiency improvement. The platform’s Qualcomm AI Engine performance has more than doubled, with a 40% energy efficiency increase, and supports select Snapdragon Elite Gaming features, such as Auto Variable Resolution Rendering (Auto VRS). Integrated edge AI capabilities are also present.
The new platform supports photo capture of up to 200 megapixels and simultaneous triple-exposure single-frame progressive HDR video capture using two cameras. Its 18-bit triple ISP enables the capture of 30 frames in a single shot, fusing the best parts of each frame into one photo, delivering brighter, clearer, and more colorful images even in low-light conditions using the ultra-low-light mode. The platform also supports exceptional dynamic range, resulting in rich colors and high definition.
Moreover, the second-generation Snapdragon 7+ mobile platform employs the Snapdragon X62 5G modem and RF system, providing ultra-fast download speeds of up to 4.4 Gbps and outstanding energy efficiency. It is the first Snapdragon 7 series platform to support 5G+5G/5G+4G dual SIM dual active (DSDA). Additionally, the platform adopts the FastConnect 6900 mobile connectivity system with speeds up to 3.6 Gbps, ensuring rapid and responsive Wi-Fi. It supports integrated Qualcomm aptX Snapdragon Sound technology, delivering lossless music streaming and seamless gaming audio experiences.
Qualcomm reveals that manufacturers such as Redmi and Realme are expected to release commercial devices featuring the second-generation Snapdragon 7+ later this month.
