PlayStation executives say AI technology is important to the gaming experience
AI technology is undoubtedly a hot topic in the tech industry, and recently, an increasing number of game developers have integrated AI technology into their games. For instance, the popular shooter game “The Finals” uses AI for voice acting. Moreover, EA recently expressed a strong desire to address a series of issues related to generative AI, as it can help game developers create better and more innovative games more quickly. Recently, PlayStation also shared its stance on AI. According to IGN, PlayStation executive, Asad Qizilbash stated that the development of AI technology will be crucial for game production, significantly impacting the gaming experience of Generation Z (born between 1997 and 2011) and Generation Alpha (born between 2010 and 2024).
Asad Qizilbash remarked, “Advancements in AI will create more personalized experiences and meaningful stories for consumers. For instance, non player characters in games could interact with players based on their actions, making it feel more personal. This is important for the younger Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences, who are the first generations that grew up digitally and are looking for personalization across everything, as well as looking for experiences to have more meaning.”
While most game developers are eager to introduce AI technology into game content, not all industry professionals favor this approach. “The Finals,” mentioned at the beginning, has faced criticism from many voice actors and even other developers due to its use of AI for voice acting.
