openSUSE Leap 42.3 will be supported to the end of June 2019
The openSUSE project team announced this week that openSUSE Leap 42.3 is expected to receive a six-month support period extension to allow more users to upgrade to openSUSE Leap 15. The earlier release of openSUSE Leap 42.3 was scheduled to end in January 2019. After the expansion, the openSUSE project team will continue to release maintenance and updates for it until June 30, 2019.
SUSE Leap 42.3 is based on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack (SP) 3 and has a lifecycle of up to 44 months after an extended period. Officials recommend that openSUSE Leap 42.3 users upgrade their systems to openSUSE Leap 15 as soon as possible, based on the SUSE Enterprise Linux 15 Series, which includes updated components and technologies designed for heavy users. SUSE Linux Enterprise Edition is referred to as SLE, and OpenSuSE Leap 15 contains full enterprise features to meet the needs of IT professionals and the ability to migrate openSUSE Leap 15 installations to SUSE Linux Enterprise 15 later this year.
