Nvidia plans to launch desktop RTX 3050 6GB graphics card next year
NVIDIA has, to date, introduced two desktop iterations of the GeForce RTX 3050 graphics card. The inaugural version, adorned with the same GA106 core as its sibling, the RTX 3060, boasted a power draw of 130W. Yet, in a subsequent rendition, NVIDIA transitioned to the GA107 core, mirroring that of its mobile counterpart, gracefully diminishing the power consumption to 115W. While there were nuanced alterations in the power supply and display output interfaces, the performance remained unswervingly consistent with its predecessor: both brandishing 2,560 CUDA cores, endowed with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, a memory bandwidth of 128-bit, and a memory speed ticking at 14Gbps.
In recent whispers from Wccftech, it’s suggested that NVIDIA harbors intentions to unveil a GeForce RTX 3050 with a 6GB memory variant in the forthcoming year. This nascent model is poised to employ a streamlined GA107-325 core and witness a recalibration of its core frequency from the erstwhile 1,777MHz to a modest 1,470MHz. Concurrently, the GDDR6 memory bandwidth is anticipated to contract from 128-bit to 96-bit, and the TGP is set to gracefully descend from 115W to a mere 70W, rendering external graphics card power connectors redundant. The nebulous details regarding any alterations in the CUDA core count remain veiled in mystery.
For a touch of perspective, the mobile version of the GeForce RTX 3050 currently has three distinct variants:
- RTX 3050 with 2,560 CUDA cores and 4GB of 64-bit memory
- RTX 3050, brandishing 2,560 CUDA cores, accompanied by 6GB of 96-bit memory
- RTX 3050, showcasing 2,048 CUDA cores, enriched with 4GB of 128-bit memory
The impending desktop GeForce RTX 3050 6GB might very well be a nuanced reinterpretation of its mobile counterpart, the GeForce RTX 3050 6GB. This strategic move aims to further delineate the graphic card market, positioning itself more adeptly against the likes of Intel’s Arc A580 and AMD’s Radeon RX 6600. The current iteration of the desktop GeForce RTX 3050 8GB orbits around a price tag of 1,600 RMB, whereas its less-expensive kin, the GTX 1660 Super, is witnessing a dwindling presence on retail shelves.
