New documents show that Microsoft is stepping up development of Windows Core OS system
Windows Core OS is a new project group formed by Microsoft after reorganization. This project group mainly builds the core version and provides it to other Microsoft teams as the basis.
Regarding the system, in fact, Microsoft has not revealed much news. It is worth noting that its project team belongs to the Microsoft Azure cloud computing department. The reason why Microsoft set up this project group is actually more related to cloud computing.
The latest news obtained by windowscentral said that Microsoft defines the core version as a module system and provides support for other platform versions as a basic version to improve compatibility.
For example, Windows Core OS will span desktop platforms, multi-screen devices, Xbox consoles, Microsoft Hololens and even mixed reality platforms.
The project teams of each platform can customize development based on Windows Core OS according to their own needs, and then launch versions of different platforms.
Microsoft said in the job posting that Windows Core OS is an innovative technology, pursuing high-quality code with no degradation in performance and more modernity.
The Universal Windows Platform (UWP) was previously a platform that Microsoft paid close attention to. This platform is designed to allow developers to run on all platform devices with a single development.
Of course, as you know, the current UWP has very low attendance, and more and more software and game developers no longer pay attention to this platform.
It’s interesting that Microsoft seems to be developing a new platform called GameCore for game developers. GameCore also supports the cross-platform operation.
According to sources, the platform allows games to run on Windows 10 PC, multi-screen devices and Xbox simultaneously, without the need for developers to adapt separately.
