Nearly 40% of network traffic in 2018 comes from bots
Network security service provider Distil Networks recently released a Bad Bot Report 2019 report focusing on the status of automated network traffic, which states that in 2018, network traffic generated by robots accounted for 37.9% of all traffic.
The robot traffic mentioned in the report contains two situations: the flow generated by Bad bots and Good robots. Good robots are easy to understand, and so-called Bad bots refer to agents that perform illegal and destructive operations, such as bots used for DoS. Although 37.9% of the data is already quite surprising, compared with last year’s report, this is still a decline, with legitimate robot traffic dropping by 14.4% and malicious robots dropping by 6.4%. Naturally, at the same time, the proportion of real human traffic increased by 7.5% to 62.1%.
