NAND Flash Revenue in 3Q21 increased by 15% from the previous quarter
TrendForce released the NAND Flash Revenue in 3Q21, showing that driven by the demand for servers and smartphones, the NAND flash memory market ushered in substantial growth. Enterprise customers and large equipment manufacturers continue their large-scale procurement activities in the second quarter of 2021 to deploy platforms based on the new processors. At the same time, major smartphone manufacturers have also expanded their procurement activities to prepare for the upcoming flagship phone launch. It is worth noting that OEM orders for PCs have begun to decline.
In the third quarter of 2021, NAND flash memory bit shipments increased by nearly 11%, and the average selling price (ASP) increased by nearly 4%. The total revenue of NAND flash memory was $18.88 billion, an increase of 15% month-on-month and a record high. Entering the fourth quarter of 2021, due to the unresolved issue of capacity shrinkage, the continued shortage of spare parts has expanded to the NAND flash memory market. Compared with other areas of semiconductors, the inventory of NAND flash memory parts is relatively good, and the overall inventory level gap has been widening in the past few months. Therefore, related NAND flash memory companies have to reduce orders to reduce inventory. With the inventory adjustment, NAND flash memory prices will begin to fall, ending the strong revenue growth for several consecutive months.
