MSI showcase RTX 4060 Ti 16GB performance

Recently, Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, based on the Ada Lovelace architecture, has graced the market. However, unlike their customary practice, Nvidia did not arrange the standard review lift for the new graphics card, and many manufacturers do not intend to provide products for review. Coupled with the already scarce market variants, this has led to a paucity of pertinent reviews.

On a recent MSI Insider program, MSI officially subjected the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB to an array of live tests, encompassing games such as “Cyberpunk 2077,” “F1 23,” “Rainbow Six Siege,” “Fortnite,” “CS: GO,” and “Hogwarts Legacy,” all of which boast significant player bases.

The findings indicated that the performance of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB slightly lags behind its 8GB counterpart, which could potentially explain Nvidia’s approach this time. The games “Cyberpunk 2077,” “F1 23,” and “Rainbow Six Siege” were all executed under Ultra or equivalent settings, with the 8GB variant outperforming the 16GB one. However, in “Fortnite” and “Hogwarts Legacy,” the performances of the two were on par, while “CS: GO” showed a noticeable advantage for the 16GB variant compared to the 8GB version.

Aside from the differences in memory capacity, both the 16GB and 8GB versions share identical core configurations, with identical frequency and power consumption settings. A plausible explanation for the slight inferiority in performance exhibited by the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti 16GB could be the higher latency brought about by the larger 16GB memory. Ideally, Nvidia might have enabled more stream processors on the AD106 used in the 16GB version, or equipped it with higher-speed memory.
