MSI B760M Mortar MAX will support non-K overclocking

Although it is reported that Intel intends to block the non-K overclocking of Core processors, the board factory obviously does not want to do so. MSI’s upcoming MAG B760M Mortar MAX WIFI motherboard still has an external clock generator, obviously, it supports non-K processor overclocking.

Twitter user @g01d3nm4ng0 has got MSI’s MAG B760M Mortar Max WiFi motherboard. There is a Renesas RC26008 external clock generator on this motherboard. With it, you can easily increase the FSB of the processor, which can only be pulled up to 103MHz, to 125MHz, or even higher. This is also the reason why some B660 motherboards can overclock the FSB of the processor.

He also demonstrated overclocking a Core i5-12400 with this motherboard. After pulling the FSB to 125MHz, the main frequency of the processor can easily reach 5GHz, which is 600MHz higher than the default full-core frequency, which can bring better performance.

The MSI MAG B760M Mortar Max WiFi is available in DDR4 and DDR5 versions for $219 and $229, respectively. It will be a cost-effective solution to match the 13th generation of non-K processors and super-FSB to make them reach higher frequencies. Of course, if you want to save costs, the $199 B660M Mortar Max WIFI is a cheaper choice. It also has an external clock generator and can exceed the FSB, but the B760M Mortar Max has a better power supply and I/O ports.
