Mozilla Firefox 72 will hide pop-up notifications by default
Starting next year, Firefox will hide annoying pop-up notifications by default. This feature will be enabled in Firefox 72 released in January 2020. Mozilla did an experiment in April this year to observe the interaction between users and notifications. User data shows that 97% of users ignore notifications or simply block websites that display notifications.
So Mozilla engineers decided to hide notifications by default. As of Firefox 72, if a website pops up a notification, it will be hidden by default. The browser will display an icon in the address bar to inform the user that there is a notification, and the icon will also have a shaking effect.
This feature has been enabled in the latest Firefox Nightly version, and Firefox users have the option to manually enable it. Type about:config in the address bar, search for dom.webnotifications.enabled, and set it to false.
