Motorola becomes the third largest smartphone OEM in the US in 2021

Judging from the mobile phone market in recent years, Lenovo’s Motorola mobile phones have developed rapidly. Especially in the United States, according to Counterpoint reports, Motorola has replaced LG to become the third-largest smartphone OEM in the United States, after Apple and Samsung.

According to the report released by the counterpointresearch, the sales rate of Motorola smartphones in 2021 will increase by 131% year on year, and the market share will reach 10%. Although Apple and Samsung still dominate the US market, their market shares can reach 58% and 22%, respectively, but Motorola has moved up the rankings significantly, becoming the second-largest smartphone OEM in the US for models in the $400 and below price range.

The reason why Motorola can become the third mobile phone brand in the United States is mainly due to the delisting of LG. It is understood that in April last year, LG officially announced the closure of the mobile division, which made a gap in the US smartphone market, and Motorola filled this gap with its excellent strength.
Commenting on the channel dynamics, Senior Analyst Varun Mishra said, “Motorola has grown its market share in the large US prepaid channels (Verizon Prepaid, Metro by T-Mobile, Cricket and Boost) to 28%. Our Consumer Lens research shows Motorola remains a very trusted and known brand. Prepaid consumer studies have shown users look for value, dependability and long battery life. Motorola scores well on these criteria.

Counterpoint also pointed out that Motorola still maintained a strong growth momentum in the first quarter of this year, and the sales data were very dazzling. In the future, analysts say Motorola will push the sales value of high-priced models to attack Apple and Samsung.
