Microsoft skips Microsoft Edge v82 release and delays disabling TLS 1.0/1.1

At present, the coronaviruses are outbreaking worldwide. As a result, many companies require employees to work from home, and the public should stay at home and reduce going out.

In this case, Google Chrome has previously decided to postpone the release of version updates to reduce the working hours of companies and webmasters for compatibility and maintenance of the website.

At the same time, Google Chrome also decided to skip the release of Chrome version 82 completely, and now Microsoft has followed Google’s footsteps to skip the release of the new version and postpone certain policies.

Microsoft officially released the latest blog saying that the company decided to follow the update schedule of the Chromium browser open-source project, that is, to completely cancel the version 82 stable version.

According to Microsoft’s official plan, the stable version of Microsoft Edge V81 will be released in early April, and then the stable version of Microsoft Edge V83 will be released in mid-May.

Mozilla Firefox no longer supports TLS

The old TLS 1.0 / 1.1 version of the security protocol has been abandoned by most browsers. Although these protocols have not found any security problems, they are no longer supported.

Microsoft originally planned to release an update in the near future to disable the TLS 1.0 / 1.1 protocol by default in Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge Classic and Chromium Microsoft Edge.

However, affected by the epidemic, many old websites, especially those of government agencies, cannot be updated in time. At the same time, these websites need to publish outbreak guidance information.

If it is temporarily disabled, it may affect the fight against the epidemic, so Microsoft decided to postpone the timetable and directly delay the time of the default ban until September 8 of this year.
