Microsoft removed fake Google Photos apps from Microsoft Store
Recently, a fake Google Photos application on the Microsoft Store has been posted on significant technology websites. The app is referred to as “Google Photos”, and the publisher name is “Google LLC”. Although it’s signed from Google, it’s a piece of malware that pushes ads to users and asks users to download junk software.
Fake apps use official Google Photos and Google LLC icons as publisher names, trick users into downloading them and then bomb them with ads or worse malware.
Somehow, the fake Google Photos app managed to bypass the authentication process, and Microsoft’s response was prolonged after the problem was discovered, causing the commentary in the store’s app to be a bad comment, a chaotic situation that lasted for months.
Within 24 hours of the exposure of the major media, the application was eventually removed earlier today. Microsoft has not issued a statement, but the application has been unable to download.
