Microsoft may extend Windows 11 major update cycle from one year to three years

Although Microsoft only stated last year that it would maintain a major update cycle for Windows 11 once a year, however, related news claims that Microsoft may change its mind and extend the update cycle to three years, but it will still maintain small-scale key updates during the period. However, Microsoft has not responded to this, so the actual update plan is still subject to Microsoft’s follow-up statement.

According to information obtained from the Windows Central website, Microsoft plans to extend the major update cycle after Windows 11 to three years but will continue to provide small-scale key updates and bug fixes during the week.

If the new update cycle is calculated, the next major update of Windows 11 will be delayed until the fall of 2024. The update version of Windows 11 23H2, codenamed “Sun Valley 3”, originally planned to be released in the fall of 2023, will be delayed or canceled.
