Microsoft may add rich text support to Notepad
Microsoft recently redesigned the Notepad application pre-installed in the system. The new version of the Notepad application supports many new functions such as dark mode, batch search, and replace. However, Microsoft is also preparing to provide rich text support for the Notepad application, but at present, we do not know what new features will be in the rich text mode supported by Notepad.
The rich text refers to features such as text formatting and styles, including setting different fonts, font sizes, strikethroughs, underlines, and even hyperlinks. Microsoft said that the text engine of the new version of the Notepad application has been separated from the operating system, and the future development team can release more new features for Notepad to provide updates at any time.
As a simple text content recording program, although Notepad has not supported beautiful styles for many years, this simplicity is suitable for more use cases. Windowslatest said that in the future, Microsoft may move Notepad closer to Word, and it will not support super functions like Word but will support rich text mode. Notepad in the Windows 11 development version currently supports Unicode characters, which means that we can now use emojis in Notepad. So it is certain that Notepad will support this mode in the future, but for now, we have to wait until Microsoft releases subsequent updates.
