Microsoft launches Xbox Remix wireless controller

Microsoft recently unveiled a sustainable Xbox wireless controller to coincide with this year’s Earth Day, constructed from materials such as recycled game controllers, car headlight covers, and reclaimed CDs, allowing gamers to actively support environmental sustainability.

The Xbox Remix wireless controller, while not incorporating any unique features, utilizes recycled resins and repurposed materials for one-third of its composition. This includes materials such as plastic water bottles, car headlight covers, recycled CDs, and components from repurposed Xbox One wireless controllers, ensuring the durability of the Xbox Remix.

Owing to the use of recycled materials, distinct patterns emerge on the controller’s exterior, creating a one-of-a-kind appearance for each Xbox Remix. Special textures are even displayed in the grip area and trigger buttons, paying homage to the Earth’s dynamic landscapes.

Moreover, the green hues on the shell, directional pad, and buttons draw inspiration from lichens found in the Pacific Northwest, symbiotic organisms formed by fungi and green algae or cyanobacteria.

To reduce players’ reliance on disposable batteries, Microsoft bundles the Xbox Remix wireless controller with a $25 Xbox rechargeable battery pack, offering the set at a suggested retail price of $85. The controller is slated for release on April 18th.
